The classic 'murder mystery' game where players try to determine 'whodunnit!' Where, how and who? It sounds simple but this is an engrossing game that entertains and enthralls. Ideal even if there's only two players, Cluedo games last 'just about right' with the average game of Cluedo lasting around 45 minutes to an hour. It can depend how many players are on the mystery hunt.
Most Cluedo players stick loyally to the traditional, original version but there are now LOADS of different, quirky variations on this classic board game. Want a game of Batman Cluedo? No problem. Other themes applied to Cluedo editions include Dungeons & Dragons, Harry Potter, Scooby Doo and The Big Bang Theory. If you haven't played Cluedo in a long time, give it another go - there's been a new suspect added into the mix!
More about Cluedo
Facts, information & FAQ about Cluedo for you to investigate.
Who invented Cluedo?
Cluedo is actually named just 'Clue' in North America but this is definitely a British-born board game, invented by Birmingham-based British board game designer Anthony E. Pratt. If you were playing the very original game of Cluedo then you'ld actually be playing 'The Great New Detective Game' - Cluedo's original title! Ownership of Cluedo has crossed the Atlantic in the years since its design and the game is now owned by American games and toys company Hasbro.
When was Cluedo invented?
Cluedo was first manufactured by Waddingtons (acquired by Hasbro in 1994) in the UK in 1949. The patent to publish Cluedo had been granted two years prior but post-Second World War shortages meant postponement of Cluedo's launch for a couple of years.
